Words From The School Of Wisdom

DO NOT FOLLOW A STRANGER

John 10:5

There are a lot of strangers who would like you to follow them. I'm sure your parents have warned you about some of them. "Never get into a car with a stranger," you have been told. "Never accept candy from a stanger." Because often such a stranger wants to hurt you.

When Jesus talks about strangers, sometimes he may be talking about people you actually know, people who will tell you not to listen to your Good Shepherd, not to do what he says is right. Sometimes these may even be your friends, maybe even relatives. Have your friends ever told you to do something you knew you shouldn't?

When that happens, don't listen, Jesus says. "Follow me."

Love worketh no ill to his neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:10-13
